How to Increase Productivity in the Workplace

Spring cleaning doesn’t just have to be in your homes. Your office space needs some revamping too! You don’t have to break the bank to improve your work environment.  Small changes can make big differences in productivity and positivity.

Here are 5 ways to increase productivity in the workplace.

  1. Let there be light!

Natural light significantly increases energy, creativity, and productivity. Have windows in your office or use light colours to increase the amount of light entering the room.  Change your floors  to a lighter colour to brighten up the room.

2. Use colours to set the tone

The colours you choose for your office can set the tone for space. Blue stimulates clear thought,

yellow boosts creativity and lifts spirits and green creates a sense of calming balance. Set the tone with your wallpaper.

3. Bring in nature

Plants aid in concentration and increase productivity. Invest in a potted plants or faux plants if you don’t have a green thumb. Alternatively, if you do not have the space, add modern prints of nature to give your office a boost of nature.

    4. Decluttered minimalism

A minimalist aesthetic does more than make your space look chic and aesthetic ; it also makes it easier to get things done. Clutter around your office runs the risk of making you feel overwhelmed and far more stressed than necessary. Keep your office simple and clean at all times to increase your productivity.  Add textures to your spaces with a clean white textured wallpaper or fabrics

     5. Change the scent of your spaces!

Like the color of the space you work in, our sense of smell can powerfully affect our mood, mindset and thus our productivity. Add scents to your work space to jar your mind into focus when you start to notice yourself drifting off. Scents such as cinnamon improves focus while peppermint lifts your mood.  You can keep  essential oils in your bag or drawer and when you’re in need of a boost put a few drops on a handkerchief or cotton ball. If you do not want to have such strong scents in the office, change your carpet tiles  for a fresh scent.
